Final Show: In-class Activity (Watercolour)

I told Tom about the idea I have been explaining in last post, he encouraged me to present it to the whole team. They like my idea, and we started from that direction.

This lesson, Tom brought us to Art Factory to do the actual work. Try to use watercolour to create some art works with the feelings of cosmic and galaxy.

Kate, Sujin and Dowhee took some pictures in the meanwhile. I will post some of them here:

I really like painting without any limitations. Add whatever colours I like.
As you can see, I painted in different shape, more accurately, without any shapes. I use lots of water mix with slight amount of colour. Usually I added the water on the paper first, then add some colour into it, so it will be coloured in the watery area.

At the end, I life up the paper, and let the colours go off a bit, to form lines. The colours are so beautiful at that moment, however they were not dry yet, we have to dry them and see the result.

This in-class activity is a chance for us to do the actual work, to try out our ideas. As I have suggested to do some watercolour works, and Photoshop it into a circle shape, so as to make it look like a planet. People like my idea, therefore, Tom brought us to the Art Factory and do some watercolour work!

Final Show: New Change

Problem: Tutor said our poster doesn't look artistic enough.

Solution: Combine traditional and digital way to make the poster.

My idea:
1. A 'melting planet' filled with galaxy.

Like the above picture, but in a melting planet shape. Using watercolour to draw a galaxy and constellation, then use Photoshop to make a melting planet shape.

2. Design a clean and simple poster, then spill some paints on the poster.
It is much more fun to people, they can touch and feel the paint. It is more special and intriguing than just making a digital one. More importantly, it is not hard to do so, just a simple step.

Final Show: Background Pictures for Website (Idea)

I found these might be useful for our website. I will show this to my group mates and see whether it is useful.

Last week, we started creating a website with Wix.com and we planned the layout. Now we need the background.

However, I concern about the first two would be too sharp. Yet, we can use Photoshop to make it less bright so it won't be grab too much attention from the viewer. As we have talked about this problem last time, we want the viewers to focus on our work, and content, instead of the background.

Final Show: In-class website building

Kate, Sujin and me are the one who in charge of the work of editing website. Since we don't have a website and gmail address yet. Therefore, we created an address and started finding a suitable website on Wix.com.

Then, we found a website has two layers which moves a bit when scrolling up or downwards. We like the layout and style of it. Originally, the website is for a makeup artist promoting his/her work. Hence, the style and photography in the background are so fancy and artsy.

We have been planning the layout of our website. We decided to rearrange the main menu and the names of the pages. For the contact page, I suggested to put our group picture in the background.

Then, we are planning to change the background, and the main colours we are going to use are yellow and black. We have planned the layout of the website, and now, we are going to find the pictures and show them to each of us next week. Then, we will decide which to put into the website.

I have an idea for our logo too, however, they voted for not having any logos. My idea of logo is based on a cartoon planet symbol. In the middle, it is an infinity symbol and overall, it looks like a planet, which matches with our theme, cosmic.
